"Something to draw them in, Pheromones, you mean?" Isra asked as Brandon started talking about attracting the bats. While this was going on, Ilex fell into a restless sleep, the sudden change in hormone levels almost knocking her out.

"Can we extract anything from these flowers, and lay out a path towards the cargo bay?" she asked.

"yeah, man. I can extract anything that makes a smell from these babies, it might even make a great perfume I can sell when we get back to Earth!" He said, and took them off of her. The medical facilities onboard were the most effective technology that Earth had to offer, that would also fit in the size constraints of the ship. This particular medical bay was more suited to this job than some of the others, having one dedicated to high tech surgery equipment.

Then, Isra's comm piped up.
"Okay Chief," he said, "We're ready to switch on the Doc's gizmo. Just give the word."

"Ahh, they're ready. Excellent. Brandon, how long will it take to get that into the air ducts? If we can create a path that increases in strength towards the cargo bay, all the bats will get attracted to that point, then we can just blast them out of the airlock." She asked, hoping it would be a quick job.

"Harris." she said into the comm. "Shouldn't be much longer here. Hopefully all power has been turned off in the crew areas, so they're safe while we play with fire. Keep in touch, we'll let you know when we're ready."

"Man, these flowers are full of the stuff. There's enough here to light up the entire ship!" Brandon said, peering at the flowers through a microscope. "We can just powder all of it, and it'll do the job just fine."

Isra nodded, which Brandon took to mean "do it."

It wasn't long before it was all set up. As they got towards the end of the work, the vents began to rattle...

"They're being attracted to it! Go for the air system, send it all to the cargo bay they're using. The path it makes on its own will be enough." she said, watching him seal the chemical in an air-tight container, and leave the room just in time for the bats to burst through the vent, and fill the room.

Diving to the corner of the room, she hit the lighting controls on the way down, which plunged the room into darkness.

Soon, the buzz of bat wings filled the air vents again, as a cloud of pollen, pheromones and powdered plant matter flooded towards the cargo bay.

"NOW!" came a scream over the comm channel to Harris & the Engineers...

<I'll give you the honours of flushing them out into space, whoever gets to this first... Also, yes, it was deliberate to seal the chemical in an airtight container, so it doesn't get wasted before it's set up!>
