Now recruiting. The main sort of character we are looking for first is a strong leader type, someone responsible that can serves a a glue to hold the team together.

This game is set in the near future, something similar to that shown in GI Joe: Rise of Cobra. As comic book technology may exist, it is listed as Sci Fi. History has begun to take a few interesting turns in the political arena. The US still struggles to maintain its role as the leader of the free world. Canada and Brazil have risen as new Oil nations, while the Middle East has lost its monopoly. The Soviet Union is reforming, but under a new constitution. Their pact is still on shaky grounds. China is a true superpower which no one trusts.
Welcome to the rise of metahuman power in the public eye. Currently there are no KNOWN metahuman groups. That doesn't mean that there are no such groups. They simply are not a matter of public record. For that matter, most people don't believe such things exist. But if they do, ... well you know the saying about Power corrupts...
Military and Law Enforcement have found themselves at wits end trying to deal with a growing menace. Like it or not, they have been forced to come to terms with the fact that they need superpowered talent on their side. Toward this end, they have begun to search for recruits.
The primary goal of the players should be to develop a real team. The game may eventually span the globe. It is at least intended to. Combat should be very limited, but will happen. Characters should be designed with this in mind. I just find that combat scene tend to bog a game down. Most of the game should be character interaction, development, investigations, and planning. PC's should be designed to work with a group.
Players should submit detailed characters. Powers should be well defined, and preferably original. (NO CANON CHARACTERS!!!!) For example a power like flight should be described with speeds, maneuverability, special effects, etc. Steer clear of characters that rely on gadgets for everything. I will favor metahumans, that is characters with powers above and beyond a normal human. (I use this term generically with no relation to nuclear power as in X-Men.) Characters must be able to blend in with humans. Please keep NPC's limited in number. ANY NPC's must be submitted and approved just like PC's. Characters should range between ages 18 and 28. I would prefer the younger end of that range.
If it helps, try to think of your characters as deserving to have a comic book written about them. If they don't meet those standards or lack the potential, they won't suffice as PC's. It is fine to start with a limited awareness of their abilities, but their potential - at least within the scope of the game - should be submitted. (This does not mean license to God Mod.)
NOTE: If player prefers, a general description may be submitted for public viewing, while a detailed description is sent to the GM. NPC's will often be presented like this. But the public version should be detailed enough so future players don't duplicate. Do I need to advise folks against developing antagonistic characters with opposing powers?
1. Subjects should include Dates, especially if a background post. In other words, make it clear for newer players where the game is at chronologically.
2. NO ONE LINE Posting. While I don't expect a three page professional effort, I want something better than a sentence or two. The posts should make sense when read by outsiders trying to catch up on the story. If necessary, include a short excerpt from the post you are responding to. If that excerpt is longer than your post, you should probably be working on a Joint Post and holding off on posting here until you have content and context developed.
3. Run only YOUR character, not others, nor NPC's owned by others. Please do not try to run the aliens until their full nature is well understood and updated. Inactive PC's will become the property of the game for the sake of continuity.
4. Yes, we will work with new players. But they should be prepared to work within the constraints above. If you need help with character development, please ask. Mitheral has been running games since 1980; Sharlene since 1995.
5. No, we don't expect everyone to post with the sort of energy the moderators have.
Submit any questions to Sharlene FIRST please. She is the lead GM and has final say in all matters.
