Tancreds story

--- Verden, just outside Skeldergate, Lorcan's Farm, night, 9 DSTR ---

Tancred smiled at her questions "I guess you just have a thing for bad guys" he said and send her a teasing wink.

"Anyway, thanks for all the kind words. I've been described as many things but I don't think I've ever been described as enchanting before. At least not by anyone who know what I am". Calmly he took a step over to the one chair he had in his cell, pulled it a little closer to the bars and sat down. Looking into her green eyes he continued "I think you might change your mind when you hear my story". For a brief moment while their eyes locked he was neither joking or flirting. He then smiled a little again "But I warn you; This is a long story" and leaned back in his chair more casually. "As you might have guessed already I haven't always been like this. I used to be a soldier and proudly fougt for Queen Thalia. It was an exiting time and when the war against Verden started I was among some of the first to be deployed. One day while moving towards an enemy campsite my group was ambushed. We didn't stand a chance and those of us that wasn't killed was left severely wounded to die on our own. I was one of the few who was found a day after or so though I don't remember much of it. When I woke up I was back in Dalen at a primitive hospital. Only a few days had passed but all my wounds had completely healed. It turned out they had used some kind of new technique to prevent me from dying; ghoulifikation. Though the procedure left me not really living neither dead it came with some huge advantages in that time of war. My body became able to heal much faster and was several times stronger than any human. The biggest disadvantage was that it also resulted in a very high metabolism and a almost insatiable appetite. Many others like me went through the same procedure and were all then sent back to the frontline. Soon we were spreading terror among the humans. We indiscriminately killed and since there was nothing else to live on, survived by eating the dead. When the war ended all ghouls were considered too dangerous to the society, just like vampires and other creatures like that, and sentenced to death. I was one of the few that were captured alive. A few days before I were to be executed Lorcan met me and immediately found great interest in my kind. Because he was working for the Queen he were able to perspone my execution for years and years until he finally got permission to keep me for his experimental purposes.". Tancred smiled a little "And that's my story and the explanation to how I got here. Sorry to bother you with all that but I hope it answered your questions.". He really did not mind telling her it all. It was nice to have someone other than Lorcan to talk to for a change.

"Now, do you have any more questions? Just ask and I'll do my very best to answer them" he said with a friendly and confident smile.
