This Little Piggy

Gularzob moved quickly through the flow of traffic, ushering people out of his way with a not-so-gentle elbow or shove when a particularly slow person caused him to get boxed in. Coming to the corner, he ignored the curse words thrown at him from the crowd and stood before five orphans who looked up at him. Looking them over, he saw that three of them were overweight and that four of them were dirty and had mangy hair. Kneeling down in front of a particularly skinny boy who had not collected a layer of filth, Gularzob held a hand out with a bronze coin.

Seeing the boy's eyes glance down at the coin before looking back up to meet his eyes, Gularzob chuckled before speaking, "You haven't been here long, have you?" Seeing the boy shake his head before his eyes drifted away slowly, Gularzob snapped his fingers to get the boy's attention back on him. Handing the coin to the boy, he spoke in a soft voice, "Care to go for a little walk?"

Seeing the boy shrug before stepping forward, Gularzob straightened up and walked a few paces from the other orphans before squatting down again. When the boy looked at him quizzically, Gularzob held out a few more bronze coins before speaking, "I need you to be truthful with me, boy. Do you know of Lars the Tailor?" Seeing the boy look off to the side in confusion before slowly nodding as he recognised the name, Gularzob nodded before continuing, "Good. Now, what about Isai, the tax collector?"

The boy recognised that name much quicker, an edge of fear in his eyes as he nodded again. Smiling, Gularzob patted the boy on the head before pulling out three silver coins. Handing them to the boy in such a way that the other orphans would not see them, he spoke in a more commanding voice, "Go find them and tell them that Gularzob Nugbu wants them. Tell them there will be a good incentive." Standing up when he finishes, the boy nodded before disappearing into the crowd with his new mission.
