In the Market, Are We?

Isai did not often venture very far from the heart of the Kingdom of Dalen, but when he was in the mood for fine meats for a guest, he had one particular place that he would go to in order to get what he believed was truly his money's worth. It also didn't hurt that Ragodast was not in his audit jurisdiction, so there was a much better chance that the goods he bought here would not be poisoned by a disgruntled shop owner. Isai chuckled softly as he moved into the butcher's shop, thinking back to a time when a produce stand had try to sell him soiled lettuce that had been scrubbed in feces before being rinsed off. Of course, the man's anger was warranted, for not three days earlier, Isai had come to collect over half of the man's income to cover debts. However, even with the rational behind the man's anger, Isai did not stay his hand when he took the man's hand as punishment, as well as an advance on the man's monthly debt payment.

Pulling himself from the memory as he moved up to the counter, he looked up to meet Barble's eyes before nodding solemnly. Barble looked him over with a snort before speaking, "You look a little worse for wear, my friend. Did you seriously travel all this way just to do business with me?"

Glancing up at the man with a snort before looking over the list of meats for sale scrawled out on a sheet of parchment, Isai shook his head before speaking, "The Misses gets what the Misses wants." Chuckling softly as he remembered Lars practically begging him from her knees to go to Ragodast for a special cut of elk steak, he looked over the list again. It was not common to find a person who could actually read around these parts, but Isai was very impressed with Barble's attempt at proper business by supplying a menu of sorts. Looking up to the hunter, he nodded before speaking, "Five pounds of your finest elk steak, please."

Seeing the hunter turn into a butcher as he nodded and turned away from the counter to go back to the meats, Isai heard the door ring behind him. Turning around slightly to look over his shoulder, his eyes narrowed as he saw an armored figure with a conical helmet that sported two large horns out the back. Turning around completely to look the newcomer over, his narrowed eyes reset to their normal look of scorn as he recognized the figure and spoke, "Elthien Talagar. It has been quite some time. I hope our latest expedition is still functioning as planned." Referring to a past encounter where the revolutionary had brought him an operative to fake an identity for the Isai found considerably lacking in the area of trustworthiness. Crossing his arms over his chest as he looked over her associates that followed her in, he called out over his shoulder, "Barble, stay back there and hum your favorite tune as loudly as you can please. Every minute is an extra ten gold coins." Turning his eyes back to the three people before him, he looked to where Elthien's eyes would be under the helmet before waiting for their response.
