A Pool of Vision

Mimir had taken many drugs, both natural and man made. This one had the nasty tendency to be a joyride or a hellish look into things around you.
This time seemed to be the latter, as his senses were confronted by a feeling of confinement.
Adjusting to his new surroundings, he went to move only to realize he was paralyzed.
Strange visions swirled around him, mixing and flowing in an endless stream of memory.
“Why do you try to reclaim what is lost?”
A figure stepped beside him, one he knew well.
Although only a hallucination, the grizzled face of Odin was shown in lifelike detail. A downside of perfect memory.
“A question I asked you many times ‘old friend’.”
Odin chuckled, a hearty sound that had the slightest hints of a darker intelligence.
The vortex around him shifted to reveal Mimir’s last encounters with the god. All had been arguments.
“And what is it that brings you to me?”
A coy smile came to Odin as his voice melded into Mimir’s own.
“I am not here. I am gone, along with much that you seek.”
Sadness and concern twisted his face as Odin melted away into the river before him.
A final image was made clear as Mimir felt himself waking from the trance, one that sent chills down his spine.

Breaking out of the vision, Mimir nearly jumped into the fire as Dim bellowed at Balar.
Taking a moment to calm his nerves, he looked around to see if they were still alone before stopping the dwarf.
“Wait! Let his vision continue.”
