The trees grew thicker and closer together as they moved on into the shady wood. He was forced several times to untangle himself from the clinging ferns and brambles. Ahead they could hear the cries and shouts of his companions as they called out to some unknown and seemingly unseen assailant.

Balar burst out into a small clearing behind Luna and found himself standing at the side of their towering Jotun ally. Dim was standing close by calling out into the trees and Erik glanced down with a worried frown.

“What is it?” Balar asked, but before the Jotun could answer figured began to emerge from the trees all around. Childlike beings with eyes of glistening gold. Their ears were pointed, almost elf like but they were not elves. Each of them held a bow or a spear, around thirty in all and every point was trained at the party.
