Gone
I sat up in bed, feeling as if my head was going to burst. I started fumbling around on my bedside table, looking for water. I took a sip, but started violently coughing.
"Girls." I wheezed, as Jenni and Hallie came rushing into the room. "Pass me my handkerchief." I take it and press it to my burning head.
"Grandma, are you ok?" Hallie asked, in a half whisper. I looked at her with sad, empty eyes. "MOM, DAD! HELP THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH GRANDMA!"
I clutched at my neck as sick poured out my mouth. Two figures ran into the room, bewildered, hair sticking in all directions.
"Call an ambulance!" My son shouted with worry, as I fell back off the bed. "Oh god, mom!" He cried, clutching my body, while his wife sat there, wiping blood off my lips.
I heard an ambulance blaring in the distance but it's too late, too late I thought to myself. I noticed the girls standing there in the doorway, too frighened to cry.
"It's ok." I mouthed through my bloody lips. My head lolled but my eyes were open, I did not move, I was gone.
