Words From The Heart

“What do speakers have anything to do with this?” Caroline snapped but lowered the gun hesitantly. How could Theo be a monster? Theo, one of the only people who ever stuck around and put up with her. Theo who reminded her so much of her little brother it hurt.

The only thing Caroline knew: Theo was a monster. Never mind if he didn’t act like it, there was this thing called manipulation. And she wasn’t falling for it. Never.

Still her gun dropped to her side as she closed the door behind her. “You’re right, you shouldn’t have kept it from me,” she said and leaned against the door, knowing that if Theo really was a threat, she was as good as dead. Yet something inside of her still trusted him. Even if it was just a little bit. “It would have made it easier for me to kill you if you’d just told me at the beginning.”

She sighed and grimaced at the ground, her forehead scrunching up in thought. “I don’t want to kill you Theo, I really don’t.”

At last she pushed herself off the door and stood foot to foot with him. “But we’re not friends and I would like you to leave now.”
