The Aenar DevicePosted by

THE FESSARIUS FLIGHT DECK
Bolak sat studying the schematics of the Fessarius. Swiping from screen to screen he noted the changes his brother had made to the ship since he had last set foot upon it. Most of them were nefarious in nature. Be it smuggling compartments or holographic emitters or the more recent Romulan cloaking device he had procured.
His eyes fell upon a room in the heart of the vessel which had once been given over to water treatment. It was now being used as a lab of sorts and was drawing a great deal of power from the ships systems.
"Computer explain the purpose of this room." Bolak tapped the screen to indicate his area of interest.
THIS SPACE CONTAINS THIRTEEN STASIS PODS AND AN AENAR PROJECTION DEVICE
"The what?" Bolak replied, "I mean what is an Aenar Projection Device?"
THE DEVICE IS USED TO PROJECT TELEPATHIC REALITIES TO DISTANT SENTIENT TARGETS IT IS OF ROMULAN DESIGN
Bolak sprang down from his seat and began to make his way towards the exit. Could this really be the device his brother had used to mess with their minds back on the Endeavor?
"Computer patch me through to Ensign McCree on the Endeavor. Audio only." he ordered as he made his way to find the lab. There was a moment silence and then...
"McCree here make it quick!" came the reply.
"Ensign! Nice way to thank a friend after loaning you the repair drones." Bolak quipped.
"Oh.. oh Bolak it's you. Sorry things are manic here, and it's acting Chief Engineer now not Ensign."
Bolak laughed, "Sounds like a mouthful, I'll stick to McCree until they make it official. I was wondering if you might be able to transport over here to take a look at something?"
"When?" asked McCree.
"Well now." Bolak waited for a moment and then decided to explain, "I have located the device used to... to take us to London. I need to ensure it is properly deactivated."
There came a muffled curse and then, "I'll be right there." from McCree.
OUTSIDE THE FESSARIUS LAB
Bolak and McCree stood outside of the laboratory doors. "You look worried." Bolak observed.
"Just uncomfortable." McCree admitted, "Still weirds me out that Mok is gone and this ship... he died here."
Bolak reached up and gave the engineer a pat on the leg. "I understand." he replied before turning to the doors, "Let's open her up."
Bolak hit the command key and the lab opened to reveal a wide circular room. Stasis pods ringed the area with computer displays mounted on the walls behind them showing the life signs of their various occupants. They were nearly all occupied.
"They are all here." Bolak whispered as he took in the sight. All of the missing crew as far as he could tell were being held here in this chamber. His damned brother had been spiriting them away as they fell to his conjured illusions. Behind the distant plates of frosted glass he could make out the familiar forms of Captain Nablesse, Sokir even the Klingon. There were here all along!!
"What the hell is that?" McCree asked pointing.
In the centre of the room was a stranger sight still. Two silver medical chairs set back to back. One was occupied by a pail skinned Andoran who appeared to be unconscious. Much of the aliens head was engulfed in wires and pads that fed into a machine set into the ceiling. The second seat was of Linnik size and a device that looked like a helmet of sorts sat discarded upon it.
"Computer deactivate the Aenar device and wake the Federation prisoners." Bolak ordered.
UNABLE TO COMPLY. AN ENCODED RESONANCE CRYSTAL IS REQUIRED TO DEACTIVATE THE DEVICE. TRYING TO TAMPER WITH THE DEVICE IN ANY OTHER WAY WILL RISK NEURAL OVERLOAD AND ENDANGER THE STASIS POD OCCUPANTS
"Computer locate the resonance crystal required to deactivate the device." Bolak asked already dreading the answer he knew he would receive.
THE CRYSTAL WAS TAKEN FROM THE FESSARIUS BY THE PREVIOUS CAPTAIN
"Not good." McCree groaned as he moved around the room checking the various displays.
"Indeed." hissed Bolak, "Let us hope that Vaanaras and Tulde catch up to him soon. In the mean time you best get back to the Endeavor and inform the Captain that we have located her missing crew mates."
