The Test

"Fine," He said reluctantly. "I'll give you what you want, but you're not allowed to touch any of the information. That's all mine." He hated how his hand shook when he gripped onto a knife. Temptation still bit at him to run from her, to attempt an escape. "I don't much like to be cooped up in a lab all day since I endured that for a good forty years, so I'll get to come and go as I please."

Liden smiled. "I'm glad you can see reason. And I am certainly reasonable. You are welcome to come and go so long as you hold up your end of the deal. If you insist on keeping your secrets then as long as you do not fail to provide what you agree to I will not press the issue. I want an immortal army to fight the army of undead that are coming to claim this galaxy... Whatever else you do... whatever you wish... I will grant it to you."

"What do you want me to do first...?" He asked in a sarcastic tone, offering a glance toward the Phantom again.

Liden started towards the door leading out of the containment area. "First things first... I need to know if your science will hold up to the threat we face..." She reached the door and turned on her heel, tossing Jin'Lor her lightsaber as a force field dropped between the two of them. "Do not worry. This is a test, nothing more. Should the Phantom prove to be too much for you I will intervene. I am one of the very few who knows how to kill these fiends quickly..."

The containment field around the Phantom's cell dropped, unleashing the creature into the room with Jin'Lor. The Phantom's helmet split open and the ghostly skull roared at him as it began to advance, its energy blade extended and poised for an attack. Then it lunged at Jin'Lor.
