A Freezing Runaway

Nichole Ann de Brabant Knight took a moment to compose herself and to attempt to keep warm before she froze to death. She stood outside in the chilling Toronto August night, and wondered where she would go to get warm and something to eat. She couldn't go back to her abusive foster parents, as she had enough of being a punching bag. The book titled β€œA Child Called β€˜It’”, would be a walk in the park compared to what she has gone through since her mother died. She heft her backpack, which held all of her belongings, higher onto her shoulders. Something had told her to come to this city, but she had no idea what or why. She only hoped that whatever it was, was sending her to someplace safe for the first time in nine years.

The blonde haired, blue eye child huddled deeper into the shelter of a doorway, attempting to keep the bitter breeze from cutting her through the bone. Her teeth were chattering, as her muscles constricted in shivers to keep her warm. It was of course a loosing battle as her exposed skin was red from being so cold, and she had no idea how much longer she would last before her body gave into the next state of freezing.
