Prue loved his gentle kisses on her face. Instantly, her bashful look turned to a sweet smile. When his lips met hers, she kissed in return. Then, he spoke.
"Separate paths where once they led,
Apart so long their routes unknown,
Converge now, together grown,
Who knows what then lies ahead?"
It was so poetic and sweet. Somehow it sounded familiar, but she couldn't place it in anything she had read or heard before. When she couldn't figure out where it came from, she decided he must have made it himself, but then how it seemed familiar made no sense. Then again, something about him himself was familiar to her even though they were merely strangers only a few hours ago.
"I'm not sure if I heard that somewhere or just made that up just now, but what I meant to say is I didn't expect this, expect anything that's happened over the last couple hours. It feels like I was on one path before, with no end. But now... now I feel like I have something, no, someone beside me. I didn't expect you especially, Prudence Vera. I didn't expect any of this but I don't think I could be any happier than I am right now, feeling you in my arms, sharing in this intimate serenity. It's like I'm waking up from a dream now finally and I didn't know until right now that I was asleep until now. I guess what I'm trying to say is, and forgive me for how corny this sounds, but will you be my girlfriend?"
His words surprised her, as she had never expected for any of this to happen to her. Little plain-Jane Prudence was not expected by anyone to have such a magical and romantic thing happen to her out of the blue like it had this day. For a couple heartbeats, she was stunned and speechless. She wanted to tell him yes, of course yes, but words couldn't find their way out of her mouth. So instead, she leaned in close to him and kissed him passionately, in a way that easily let him know what she was thinking, even if she wasn't saying it.
