WEDNESDAY MORNING - 9:39am 5/2/90 Rec Center Parking Lot
As the door the The Beast closes, Jason takes a minute to scan the area as best he can through the rain.
Man, it’s really coming down. At least I’m still mostly dry. It’s a small thing, but nothing is more miserable than wet feet. So Jason isn’t about to complain.
“Alright,” he says quietly to himself, “let’s do work.” Closing his eyes and lowering his head, he takes a few deep breaths and starts to clear his mind. The uncertainty of the current mission, gone. The dread he felt this morning when he thought Robin had been turned, gone.
Robin... his happy place. He focuses on her smile, on her laugh, on the way she calls him Merlin. He can feel his grip on the Leylines taking hold. He can see them now, as he opens his eyes.
He wills his mind out of The Beast. He has work to do.
