The world of Tellok was a normal one, as worlds go, before The Artifact came. Dropping through the sky from the space beyond it fell not at the speed of gravity, but by its own undetectable power. Few individuals across the northern continent missed its four hour descent. Mothers held their frightened children and sang to them. Fathers created logical lies out of thin air or said silent prayers. Academics watched in awe and took measurements from afar and burned letters as quickly as the shamans could send them.
When it landed it took with it the proud dessert city of Addidia and with it the grand libraries of the once renown City of Poets. Those who escaped, who could be counted on two hands, spoke of the mountain-sized stone falling from the sky and slowly, almost casually crushed their homes and marketplaces while their brothers and sisters stood watching, tears falling from their eyes. The great historian, Klemesh, head of his order and closest surviving academic to The Artifact when it landed sent out a call to every fire in the land for personal accounts of what had happened and the people's thoughts while watching The Artifact fall. In fact, he was the first to call it "The Artifact", a name that was burned into the memory of everyone that day.
The world was a flurry of excitement and questions for the next day. Municipalities were calling for intensive study of The Artifact. Hundreds of personal accounts were rolling in from from across the northern continent to the point that Klemesh had to call home his order for help. Even more letters were sent to loved ones in Addidia, hoping they were safe and had escaped The Artifact. They rained day and night from the sky above where the city once stood, its waypoint enchantment still active.
Players are the various peoples of the northern continent of Tellock on that fateful day, when a chiseled monolithic stone the size of a mountain fell from the sky under its own power and landed on a city. They will begin the game with their account of the descent either written to Klemesh the Historian or spoken to someone who wrote it and burned it via Shaman to be sent.
