Part Of The Crew
"Oh, before you screw up your face and spit at me and my boys, ya should know that you have no steering. The boat is not going far lass. So choose wisely."
She was afraid of that from the damage they'd taken on. Since they'd been raided there'd be no pay and with no pay she couldn't help her family. She never wanted to be a pirate, but desperate times called for even more desperate measures.
"Yes, yes, yes and yes," she responded. She could tell the captain and his crew were confused. "Yes... I just shot you with a bow and arrow. I can fire more shots and faster, farther, and quieter than most can with a gun. And yes... it's real oak - I made it myself from an old dresser I scavenged, along with the arrows - extra strong. And yes... me and the lads will show you where we were attacked and join your crew. We show up empty handed and they'll not pay us or accuse us of cowardice or conspiracy anyways. And by the site of your crew, you could use a new and better first mate..."
She strolled forward, easing the tension with the lowering of her bow.
"Excellent choice lass! Alrighty, prepare for disembark! Trim off the lines, stow the crew, and fetch me some rum!" Shodan called out with smile.
His first mate strolled up with a scowl. "Cap'n, why would you accept that? I am the first mate, I am not letting that cun-"
He did not finish as Shodan whipped around and struck him with the flat of his cutlass. The mate's head rang with the blow, making him stagger. "You will do wise to be making nicer words about our new crew around me. Now, to your station, Mr. McGee," the captain said seriously.
He looked to the captain with murder but curbed his tongue for now. Bitch won't be staying on for long. She may be taking a dive tonight, he thought venomously as Shodan pulled the ship away.
Without someone keeping the craft from falling, the trade ship tilted port into a slow nosedive. He was almost a mile away when the airship finally impacted land, flammable gases igniting into a fireball. Shodan merely opened the throttle before passing on the wheel to his own navigator. "Bring us into the nor'wester," he ordered as he made for the galley.
The crew had gathered around the new arrivals, mentioning threats and other dastardly things to them if they were lying. They seemed to definitely take interest in the woman with their callings.
"Oi! Down, ya mangy and horny assholes!" He yelled. The crew fell silent. "Is that how we treat others? Is that the way we wish to be treated? Like liars and whores?"
"No sir," they went.
"Damn right! Now, where is my rum? Come on, everyone a bottle!" Only when everyone had some rum ready did he continue. "To our new, temporary crew! They shall be treated as one of us! As one, we are!"
"As one, we are!" They went, slamming back the rum before jovial tidings were had. Shodan sought both the navigator from before and the woman. "The two of you, come to me room. We have talking to do."
