situating their rooms

Thomas checks out the boys’ side. “Right, so here it is.”

He checks that his box of stuff is there, picks a bed near the window, unpacks an item or two, puts some clothes into a drawer, gets bored and plunks the box back onto the bed. He then rearranges the neighboring furniture to give himself a bit more space on each side. No one’s here yet to mind, so might as well get a little extra room to breathe, right? He then haphazardly shoves stuff from his box into his dresser and closet; there isn’t all that much, and it doesn’t seem to matter. Good enough for now.

He heads out into the common room and goes over close to where Elizabeth is sitting. “Hi, how are things over on your side? It’s a bit weird over on mine, being the only one there.”
