Way Back When Week Competition
Way Back When Week is a great opportunity to really get to know the background of your character, why they have a certain trait or family experience by telling it in the form of an extreme flashback to the event that first developed it, but more than that it’s a chance to enter your stories into a competition! Simply write your story and then send it to us, for a chance to win! The final date for competition entries is the 1st of December.
Here’s a video of me announcing the competition:
Who will judge the competition?
We’ve chosen a panel of roleplaying professionals to judge these stories. Each is a veteran of a different roleplaying game, so there shouldn’t be any favoritism or bias. Just so there’s no lobbying going on, the identity of the judges will be kept secret!
Spread the word!
If you’re the first to hear about Way Back When Week in your game, make sure you let others from your roleplay know about it too. If you’re the GM of your own game, why not have your own competition for the best first person post amongst your members, so that someone in your game will always be a winner?! I’d also really appreciate it a lot of you mentioned Way Back When Week to other members of your RP, on your Twitter or Facebook, to spread the word.
You can also join the Facebook event so you can chat with other roleplayers also joining in with the event.
What’s the closing date for the competition?
The closing date is the 1st of December, which is the final day of WBWW, so make sure you submit your entries on or before that day. We’ll announce the winners as soon as we can after that date. It often takes a while for all judges to read the entries, which is why it’s a good idea to submit your story as soon as possible so we can get a head start!
The competition prize
We’ll be giving away this cool mug to the winner. Also the winning story and the runners up will be posted here on the blog. We like mugs, they’re practical and useful, and I also heard a rumour that a lot of writers like drinking coffee (can this really be true?! Hehe). Posing with one of our delightful mugs is Aimee, the winner of our last First person fortnight competition. Aimee says the mug is in pride of place on her writing desk, where she sees it every day.
