Brantley developed his powers as a child, practicing on his own older sister and basically destroyed her life before he had even reached puberty. People always believed him. He basically ran his school, and got into politics at an early age. When metas became a controversial subject, rather than outing himself as a meta Brantley chose to side with the anti-metas because he saw more power for himself on that side.
