JP - I Guess I'm Healing

Min stared at the changing scenery and the strange sights. If she was in less pain she probably would have enjoyed the adventure. Unfortunately she was in pain and scared for most of it.

Elizabeth stayed with Min, constantly fussing over her like a mother hen.

Min tried to relax, watching Anastasia. “She- is she going to be okay?”

“I think so. They seem to think so.” Elizabeth answered as she watched them.

Min hoped so. If Anastasia would be okay, maybe she would be okay someday. She closed her eyes.

Anastasia would eventually wake up and whimper at the pain, but the medical shadows would quickly go to calm her. They gave her something for the pain and to calm her down, but she still seemed a bit disoriented and let tears fall down her face.

“Why? Why did he do that?” She whispered.

Elizabeth frowned, hating to see either of these two women hurting like this.

“I don’t know. I’d… been with… men that like causing pain but he was worse than any of them.” Min stiffly sat up, hugging her knees. She hurt there, her brands also hurt, and the cuts and bites itched.

One of the shadows went to Min and gestured to her injuries as if asking her if she wanted anything for it.

Anastasia merely watched, confused by where they were now. “Where…are we?” She asked.

“A safe place,” Cook answered as he watched as well. He was perplexed, but growing up around metas had taught him to expect the unexpected no matter what.

“Please.” Min whispered to the shadow.

The shadow nodded and got to work, taking off the bandages and slowly putting a healing salve all over Min’s wounds. Before the bandages were taken off, though, another shadow pulled a curtain around the bed so they had privacy for Min’s sake.

While they did this, Elizabeth and Cook talked about what to do and where to go once they left this place. “I’m not leaving her unprotected. She needs someone there for her.” The woman explained.

“I never said we’d leave her behind. I want to keep her safe, too.” Cook replied. “But with all the news about her, it’s probably best we don’t make her face the world yet…”

Min could hear that Cook and Elizabeth were talking, but not what they were saying. She was just relieved that the salve the shadow applied was helping her feel better.

The shadow wrapped fresh bandages around Min’s injuries and gently patted her shoulder before handing her some new clothes. The other one gestured as if telling her to put them on to be more comfortable.

“Thank you.” Min said, slowly getting dressed.

The shadows left her to her privacy after showing her how to move the curtain.

Elizabeth would go over to the curtain. “You okay, Min?” She asked.

After Min was dressed she moved the curtain. “I- I think so. They gave me some salve that I think is helping.”

“You don’t hurt?” Cook asked from where he was sitting.

Anastasia was getting the same treatment now, her curtain closed.

Elizabeth merely smiled at Min. “It’s so cool seeing you moved around!”

“It’s still… It’s not as bad.” Min shrugged.

“Still, you couldn’t move at all when we were at that shitty place. Now you’re…look at you!” Elizabeth was over the moon, fussing over Min like a mother hen again.

Min blushed. “I guess I’m healing.”

Both Cook and Elizabeth nodded as a few shadows wheeled Anastasia to another room.

“They’re probably taking her to Riley.” Elizabeth commented.

“I hope so.” Min said, watching them take Anastasia away. This was such a strange place, Min could not imagine being alone in it.

“We can rest for tonight, at least.” Elizabeth said and happily went to bed.

Min got to sleep. Of course, her dreams were plagued with that monster hurting her.
