JP - Homeless Caneclone

Caneclone watched the activity. “I hope the coyote man will be alright.”

“He will be. Come on,” Abraham said and took Caneclone to another car that arrived.

“Can I go with you?” Caneclone asked hopefully. “I’m homeless…”

“That’s why I said come on,” Abraham said to Caneclone. “You can stay at a safehouse I have.”

“Thank you.” Caneclone smiled and walked with Abraham.

In the car that arrived, Abraham started it up and took Caneclone to a simple safehouse. “So…tell me about yourself.” He said.

“I think I was made in a lab, because I don’t have much to look back on. I don’t remember growing up. I think I have a twin brother.” Caneclone said.

“Do you know what his name might be?” Abraham asked as they pulled into the driveway and he parked the car. He was still giving this clone some distance. There was no telling what might happen.

Caneclone shook his head. “I don’t think I ever heard it. I just remember being in a tank with someone who looked just like me.”

“Hm,” Abraham hummed and got out of the car. He still had the tranquilizer on him if he needed it, but for now he just showed Caneclone the interior of the safehouse.

Caneclone followed Abraham around the safe house, his eyes filling with tears when he saw the shower. “I went from the lab to being homeless…”

Abraham raised an eyebrow and gestured to the shower. “If you need to get cleaned up, you can. I’ll find you some clean clothes.”

“Thank you!” Caneclone said, stripping down once Abraham left the bathroom and got in the shower. He sang the Rubber Duckie song.

Abraham left spare clothes by the door and went to the kitchen, sitting at the table with a mug of coffee as he thought about what to do next. This clone wasn’t acting like Canestone or Clonestone, but something about him made Abe uncomfortable. He knew trusting this man was never a possibility.

He’d just have to be on alert any time he was around him.

Caneclone hummed and whistled the Rubber Duckie song as he dried off and got dressed. He was careful to keep his pocket knife and stunner. Feeling like a million bucks he looked for Abraham.

Abraham, being part of the experimental program that Thrane controlled, had better hearing than most humans since his “revival” and heard every syllable and step that Caneclone made. He was careful to keep texting Frisk, Delilah, River, and even Mark of what was going on and even made sure they knew which safe house he was at. “What are you going to do from here…what was your name again?” He asked calmly, looking at the clone when he finally found him.

“001, or Caneclone. Sometimes they called me Nature for some reason.” Caneclone said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do… I’d like to find that pink-haired lady that set me free.”

“Why would you like to find her?” Abraham watched him carefully, but kept himself calm and relaxed looking.

“If it wasn’t for her I’d still be a prisoner of that facility. I want to thank her.” Caneclone said. “She’s really pretty too.”

“She’s also engaged, so don’t get any ideas,” Abraham warned as he slid a mug of coffee to him.

“You know her?” Caneclone asked eagerly, picking up the mug of coffee.

“Yes, she’s a friend of my daughter.” Abraham explained, not willing to give up much information.

“Can you help me to meet her?” Caneclone asked. “I owe her so much.”

“I’ll have to speak with the others about that.” Abraham said.

“Oh.” Caneclone’s shoulders lowered slightly. He quietly sipped on his coffee.

Abraham watched him for a moment and sent Frisk a text about Caneclone’s interest in the pink haired girl, who he assumed was Gelf.

Caneclone tilted his head curiously at Abraham’s phone, but did not comment. He finished his coffee. “Thank you, this was good.”

“You’re welcome,” Abraham said, making sure he never put his back to Caneclone. “What have you been doing since you got free?”

“Not much. I found some soup kitchens, got into a homeless shelter but it’s really overcrowded.” Caneclone said. “I’ve been trying to not get captured again.”

“It’s always difficult for metas to stay hidden, that’s for sure.” Abraham sighed heavily, wishing Frisk would reply. He wasn’t sure what to do with Caneclone because the man was not showing any signs of being like the other clone. That did not stop his instinct to stay alert, though.

“Is that why I might not be able to see the pretty pink-haired cat lady?” Caneclone asked.

“It could or couldn’t.” Abraham said. “The issue is that you have the face of a man that’s done a lot of bad things. You wouldn’t exactly be welcome in the Underground.”

Caneclone frowned. “Is that why people call me a rapist and other things like that? I’ve never hurt anyone.”

“Most likely,” Abraham confirmed for him.

“I can change my face so they can’t recognize me. See?” Caneclone turned his skin blue and made his face really puffy along with hairy warts.

Abraham looked unimpressed.

“Is this enough?” Caneclone asked.

"You look like a cartoon character." Abraham chuckled. "Try something a bit more human. Blend in."

"That pretty girl had pink hair, cat ears and a tail." Caneclone said. But he turned his skin a more natural brown color. He kept his face puffy and the hairy warts.

"The warts aren't needed…" Abraham said.

“Okay.” The hairy warts disappeared from Caneclone’s face. “Is this good enough? I can change my hair too…” His hair darkened further and curled.

“That’s fine,” Abraham made sure he was sneaking pictures while Caneclone did this, making sure to send them to Frisk and everyone else. He wasn’t going to risk anything and wanted to keep everyone up to date.

Caneclone smiled. “I’d like to meet other metas, not just her… Maybe be part of the community and help?”

“We’ll see what we can do. For now, you should rest, get some food in you, and just settle down here.” Abe replied. He wanted to get the opinion of everyone else before letting this odd man into the underground. A part of him didn’t want to do even that. Canestone, no matter how innocent and friendly he seemed, had never been a trustworthy individual.

“Okay.” Caneclone said, though he was disappointed. “I could eat.”
