D'Virr - A day in the life

After walking for the better part of the day along the old merchants road D’Virr at last passed through the gates of the township unnoticed by the local watch whose attention it seemed were directed elsewhere.

Walking the length of the towns main street she finally elected to take a seat on the edge of an ancient stonework fountain that lay at the center of what must have passed for the townships market square were vendors with shabby booths and and farmers with aged carts selling their goods to whomever would buy.

Feeling no need to rush D’Virr remained seated taking water from the old fountain and using a damp cloth to cool herself and wash away the heat and dust of the day while she looks on in wonder at the lives of those around her. Young children engaged in whatever game or amusement they found to be enjoyable that day while the adults went about their day-to-day lives attending it seemed to whatever business adults here in this township attended to.

For D’Virr this day marked the seventh day which was a day of rest set aside for prayer and meditation as well as to attend to those less fortunate that were in need. The poor and unfortunate souls of the land who more often than not tended to be overlooked and forgotten while needing the blessing of the Divine all the more.

Openly displaying the symbol of her faith she offered blessings for those he asked or absolution for others from whatever sins or guilt that weighed heavily on their minds.

Sometimes the need was far greater than some simple blessing or prayer but rather requiring her to reach deep within herself to the source to draw upon the power of the Divine to cure some lingering sickness or heal injuries as were needed.

Payment of course was never required but most would still offer something in exchange for her service be it a few coins here and there or a small offering of one food item or other.

It was as she remained seated and all but unnoticed to passersby that she overheard others freely exchanging their tales from the road and the assorted rumors of the day.
Tales of something lurking in the darkness at night. Creatures from elder tales seen wandering the vale at sunset or in those early morning hours. A growing dread amongst those households that lay too far from the safety of the township and its militia.

There were also rumors that the townships Mayor Tarquin would even be entertaining Adventurers in 3 days time in a bid to put an end to this threat.
