JP - The Keep - Healing Room - Rest

A while later Millie came in with the things Miyuki wanted. “Lek helped carry them down- but is staying in the hall.” She rolled her eyes.

"That's fine," Miyuki said the words automatically, almost monotonously. She was trying to come to terms with the rejection from Lek and focus on her child. Once it was born she'd have a proper meaning in life again - a reason and purpose.

Sadly, that did not take away the hurt. "It's probably best he not come in here anyway." She told Millie, looking at the other woman. "Will you help me pull on clean clothes, please?"

“Of course.” Millie said and helped Miyuki change her clothes. Or tried to be helpful. Millie made a living on clothes but she had never dressed someone with a tail before. “Lek does care about you. It’s going to take him a long time to get over Pinja… when he finally gives up.”

Mrs Royce was sitting up in bed with her newborn daughter. She was not fluent in the common language, but she understood enough to piece together what had happened to Miyuki and what Miyuki’s help had almost cost her. She had a feeling of dread, like something terrible was about to happen. But it was something she had felt very often and chalked it up to her unhappy life with her abusive husband and did not notice what was happening at the window.

Miyuki was able to deal with her tail. Having fixed her own clothes so they could accommodate her tail, she was able to assist Millie in the process of getting the fluffy appendage through the fabric. “Thank you, Millie,” She said softly, trying not to think about what the girl was speaking of. “I know…but I doubt he will get over her, despite her rejections.”

Shrugging, she slowly got back in bed and sighed softly. The same dread Mrs Royce was feeling coursed through the kitsune and she worried about what was to come.
