JP - Staying with Evie

“Yeah.” Sorley said, regretfully. He had failed to keep Evie safe. He wondered if he would fail to keep Gelf safe if she was ever in danger. He wondered if Gelf had made a mistake to agree to marry him. His shoulders slumped.

“Don’t let your thoughts go there, Sorley.” Gelf suddenly said, poking his chest gently. “I know that look. Don’t go there.”

Sorley blushed a little, gently wrapping his fingers around her hand and bringing it to his lips. “I love you.”

“I love you too, Sorley.” Gelf replied and hugged him gently.

Sorley hugged Gelf back, he started to relax, only to tense up when he heard shouting coming from the room Evie was in.

Gelf’s ears perked up and she bolted to the room, pulling Sorley along.

Which was when Kiana gently knocked on the door.

“B-but what if he finds us? He always found me! Always! ALWAYS!” She was becoming hysterical, bolts of lightning dancing around the room, but miraculously not hitting anyone. Evie was hyperventilating, pulling at her hair and screaming as the fear overwhelmed her.

“Evie!” Kiana shouted, throwing open the door in worry for her friend.

Frisk hated resorting to this, but with Kiana walking in she felt like there was too much risk. She injected a syringe of sedative into Evie. “I’m sorry, but you are safe now.”

The moment the sedative kicked in, Evie fell to the side onto the bed, passing out as her power fizzled out and faded. The only sign of her power was the little sparks that forever danced in her hair, but if Frisk and Kiana paid attention they would notice the sparks were far smaller than they were five years ago.

“Jesus- what did you do to her, Frisk?” Kiana asked, moving to the bed and watching the small sparks in Evie’s hair.

“I had to sedate her, she got too wound up.” Frisk explained, still feeling bad for doing it. She gently made Evie more comfortable in the bed.

“Geeze.” Kiana took in all the bandages on her friend’s body. She sunk into the nearby chair. “Whiskers has been losing his shit. Would it be okay if he was let in here?”

“If he’s careful and doesn’t touch her wounds.” Frisk said, pulling out her phone to see if there had been any updates about Tzeitel.

Kiana slipped out to find Whiskers. She made it clear that he could sit next to her but absolutely NO climbing on his goddess. When she brought Whiskers to Evie’s room, he obediently curled up in the bed next to her, purring softly.

Evie stayed asleep, Whiskers’ purring seeming to help her body relax further.

Frisk would see a quick test from Klaire: ‘Looking for Colt. He’s run off to chase the clones, we think. Also, he stupidly kissed Tzeitel…’

“Oh shit.” Frisk muttered, texting back ‘keep me updated.’

Whiskers made a small chirping sound and kneaded Evie’s pillow.

Gelf peeked into the room from the open doorway. “What’s going on?” She asked.

“Everything’s okay, now.” Frisk said. “Evie has just been through a lot and needed to be sedated.”

Sorley had let Gelf pull him along, but he stayed back from the door. He could guess what Evie had gone through and thought it best she did not see him for now.

“Thrane’s an evil fucker.” Kiana said. “I’m going to start training rats to chew his junk off.”

Whiskers gently rubbed Evie’s face with his whiskers, still purring softly.

Gelf grimaced. “Him? He…he’s the one that…?” Her eyes were locked on poor Evie, who was still sleeping. “Oh, the poor thing.”

Frisk nodded. She sunk back into the chair. She had told Evie that she would not leave her until Evie was ready for her to leave, and after injecting her with sedatives it did not feel right to leave her now. “She is still very scared.”

“She has so many bandages she looks like a mummy.” Kiana said.

Sorley listened from the hallway. He clenched his fists. Water in nearby glasses went too still.

Gelf finally stepped over and gently brushed Evie’s hair out of her face. “She’s still as beautiful and sweet as she was, I’m sure. We’ll do whatever it takes to help her.” She said.

<Be careful with my Goddess.> Whiskers gave Gelf a small warning growl and continued purring.

“Whiskers just told you to be careful.” Kiana played with her collar, having not only switched it off but took it off at some point and was turning it in her hand, clicking it on and off absently. “When will Evie be able to go home?”

“I don’t know yet.” Frisk said. Frisk’s phone buzzed with an incoming text from Klaire. She frowned.

Gelf chose to literally ignore the warning from Whiskers and looked at Frisk. “What is it?” She asked.

“Colt was injured.” Frisk said. “They’re bringing him here.” Frisk was concerned for Colt… and worried about Tzeitel.

Kiana started rummaging in her bag.

“Anything I can do to help?” Gelf insisted, glancing at the doorway with worry over Sorley. She knew he hated seeing Evie like this.

“I’m not sure.” Frisk said. “Tzeitel is coming too and she’s… she has things going on too. Could at least one of you stay with Evie? She’s scared and in a strange place, she needs a familiar face when she wakes up.”

“I can stay here.” Kiana said, pulling random things from her bag.
