JP - Tzeitel saying more ironic words

“She had a nice look about her…I don’t know. I’m not the judge of what people are like.” Colt shrugged again and started to get up. He needed to return to his room before Frisk realized he wasn’t there.

“Is Cody with her or just… sitting with her?” Tzeitel started shoving the papers back into her file and cleaning up.

“I’m not sure,” Colt said, watching her. “I’m gonna go back to my room before Frisk notices I’m gone…” Though, the lack of an IV would get him in trouble as is. Adjusting his cargo shorts he always wore, he made his way out of the room. With his injuries it was difficult to go quickly, so he was a bit slow and had to use the wall to steady himself now that he was far more aware of the pain.

Tzeitel threw her file in her lockbox and followed Colt with the ‘puke bucket’ which she tossed down a shoot to the incinerator. When she caught up with Colt she put an arm around him to help steady him. Ami tagged along.

Colt was very shocked, face flushing slightly. “W-what are you doing, Tzeitel?” He sputtered. “I can get there on my own…” He glanced back at Ami.

“Don’t get any ideas.” Tzeitel muttered. “Thrane fucked you up and you can hardly walk- you never should have gotten out of bed, dammit.”

“Swear jar.” Ami said.

Tzeitel sighed. “I’ll put a twenty in when I can get at my wallet.” Tzeitel glared at Colt. “I’m just helping you. You’re my friend, right?”

“I didn’t run off to get myself almost killed. I was just trying to get some air, tried to help someone, and it ended with me losing a fight…” He went quiet at her glare and words and suddenly pulled free of her grasp. “I can get to my room on my own…” His left cat ear, the uninjured one, fell back. The right one would do the same if he still had it.

“I’m just trying to fucking help you, dammit!” Tzeitel said, frustrated. “If you fall over and hurt yourself more I’m going to kick your ass!”

Ami watched Tzeitel and Colt, her shoulders slumping.

“You already kick my ass every day, Tzeitel…” Colt said as he leaned on the wall. “You should probably take a moment to realize the irony in your words lately.” Turning, he reached the area where Cody, Frisk, and Emily were, just passing them without a word.

It seemed like Tzeitel was going to her room to look at her file and not to the gym or to try to break into the wine cellar, so Frisk let her go as she spoke with the techs a little more. She stepped into the waiting room much more calmly than Tzeitel had torn through there. She looked at Cody and the girl with him with a weary smile. “Hello Cody.”

Cody looked up at Frisk from where he and the girl sat. They had been chatting about daily things. “Hey,” He said and gave her a tired smile. “So…Tzeitel stormed off to her room.”

“She had gotten quite a shock.” Frisk said. “It’s not every day that you find out you have had a bullet in your body for years and did not even remember getting shot. It sounded like she was heading to her room so hopefully that’s where she is.” Frisk nodded to the girl with Cody.

“This is Emily,” Cody introduced, not wanting to really talk about Tzeitel at the moment.

“Hello,” Emily said in a kind and soft voice, her silver eyes turning to Frisk as she twirled a lavender lock of hair around a finger.

“Hello, nice to meet you, Emily.” Frisk said, offering her hand.

Emily gently shook Frisk’s hand. “Cody’s been telling me about all the traveling you’ve done. I’ve been working in the news department and getting out as much information to people about how metas are as human as everyone else.” She explained. Frisk might recognize her name from a few newspaper articles and magazines where small articles talk about metas and how they’re not all evil.

“She just wants to help…even if it’s a little.” Cody said with a shrug.

Frisk’s smile broadened. “I’ve read some of your articles. They can actually make a big difference.”

“I hope so, but most people still brush it off.” Emily sighed, her little wings fluttering. “I’ve tried so hard to get as much good information out as there is bad, but they always turn against us…it’s like that politician has a lot of connections…”

“Yeah. Campbell Brantley, he’s related to at least two metas and is almost certainly a meta himself.” Frisk said. “We’re not sure exactly what his power is yet.”

Emily nodded. “Yeah, I’ve been trying to find out about that, but it’s difficult. Guy keeps his personal info under lock and key to the point that Mark can’t even get a hold of it…”

“I think it was a slip that his name even got in his niece’s MegaCorp file.” Frisk said. “From what I know he has cut his ties with any family he had, she doesn’t remember ever meeting him.”

“She may never have actually met him,” Emily replied. “I’m not going to give up, though. He wants to make us basically disappear. I can’t let that happen.”

Cody just smiled, watching Emily.

“She probably never met him.” Frisk said. “Her parents weren’t the kind of people a politician would want to be associated with.”

Both Cody and Emily pointed at Colt.
