The Dig

An old unowned shovel had became Syd's best friend in the ruins of Sherwood. He had discovered a large industrial building, the perfect cover for a secret facility if he had ever seen one. He had amassed a pile of radioactive rubble and dirt. Something about the spot he had found screamed man made, like it had been deliberately put back there. The way certain aspects were a little too neat or thought out. An NCR ranger approached him. "Are you not tired yet scav?"

"Not quite yet sir, I've got some more digging in me yet," Syd replied with a smug grin upon his face. A thick layer of sweat had formed on his brow. "You boys thinking of giving up yet?"

"Like that's going to happen," the ranger laughed. He walked over to Syd's pile of dirt and started to pick through it.

"Who's the scav now?" Syd smirked. "Why don't you go play in your own pile of dirt? I can handle this one on my own."

"I don't have to listen to you." The New California Republic ranger kicked at the pile of dirt with the front of his boot. A dusting of mud got in Syd's face.

"Are you done?" Syd barked. The ranger turned with a tut and began to walk away. Syd didn't let the attitude of the ranger slow him down, he dug angrily, throwing more and more dirt into his pile until thud! The sound of something hard beneath the earth, a signature metallic thud. Syd got to his knees and started to brush away more dirt with his hands. There it was, a hatch, hidden in Sherwood. His own discovery.
