Bad Company

Since the team had limited options, Oliver was at a computer conversing with Chessy on news reports and the terrible state that Gotham was in. However since he was not a one man army and he had to be there for his students he kept his opinions to himself. Oliver was feeling the pressure of being powerless and was really missing Batman at this point in time. He tried to reach out to the Justice League only to learn that they were facing threats elsewhere. Agent Orange pointed out that the enemy might be taking advantage of the bigger threats in order to lay siege to Gotham. He also pointed out that with to many players moving in Gotham, it was going to be difficult to avoid friendly fire. So when they were ready to move in they needed to coordinate with the Bat family. Chessy agreed and continued to keep open communication with Barbara.

After an hour Chessy alerted the team that she had news. Chessy said, “Well I have some good news and some bad news.” Oliver replied, “ What’s the good news?” Chessy replied, “Well someone from the Justice League offered to help.” Oliver smiled and asked, “It’s about damn time. Who is it? Wonder Woman? Green Lantern? The Flash?” Chessy sighed and replied, “No it’s a sub team member.” Oliver then was puzzled before he asked, “Like Elongated Man? Tigress? Stargirl & S.T.R.I.P.E? Booster Gold?” Chessy sighed and shook her cat head no. Then she replied, “I wish. The bad news is the ones who seem to be available are the Blue Jay, Agent Liberty, Ambush Bug, Vibe, Gypsy & The Question.”

Oliver stared at Chessy’s AI cat image blankly for several minutes. Chessy’s cat face had an apologetic expression as if she popped on Oliver’s pillow. Oliver sighed as he replied, “Chessy I know you meant well and we do need help, but there is a reason that group is available. The only thing that group brings us is bad humor, cannon fodder and conspiracy theories. We used to make them redirect traffic for civilians for a reason. Now I am not saying that they were completely useless, but the main team was worried that they might get killed on every mission.” Chessy sighed and asked, “Well what do we tell them? They are planning to help out in Gotham in a day or two.”

Oliver sighed and rubbed his temples as he tried to find a way to fix the problem. The Agent Orange spoke up, “If they directed traffic in the past, just have them keep criminals from leaving Gotham and civilians from entering Gotham. I’m sure the police could use the help.” Oliver and Chessy looked at Agent Orange in awe then at each other before they nodded. Oliver nodded and replied, “That works.” Chessy paused then replied, “Message sent to the team and local police.”

Chessy then said, “Well we solved that problem. We fixed our financial problems and now we need to resolve the issues of the teams training and health.” Agent Orange nodded as he replied, “Worst case scenario we will resort to guerilla tactics and chip away at the gangs. Of course we will need to keep in touch with the Bat Family so we don’t end up under friendly fire.” Then Agent Orange went back to working on his devices.
