Death is on the menu

Most city people were unwilling to attempt to capture or kill the Huntress with powers. Some of the super villains, on the other hand, were, and Kate knew that. She had Barbara keep an eye out for this Huntress. Something seemed familiar about this Huntress to Kate.

Kate was on patrol two days after the bounty was put on Huntress' head when Barbara reported that Huntress was spotted entering Kate's bar and looked injured. "What the hell is she doing near the Hold Up?"

Kate went to a building overlooking the apartment above the bar. "There's blood around the window to my manager's apartment. Going in." Kate shot a line over to the building and slid across. She silently entered the apartment. She found her manager in a state of undress, digging a bullet out of her side. On the floor was the costume of the Huntress and a crossbow on the toilet. "Helena, I'm....." Before Kate could say more, Helena, with superhuman speed, grabbed her crossbow, spun, and shot at Kate. Kate couldn't react fast enough to dodge. Kate only survived because the bullet in her side was thrown off Helena's aim, causing it to go through the wall and into the next room. Helena fell to one knee. "I'm here to help." Kate took off her mask. "Kate?" Helena said, spitting up blood. "You need help." Kate waved her off. "Survived worse. Just gotta get the bullet out. Heal fast." Kate helped Helena up. "Oracle sends a car. My bar manager is Huntress. She's been shot. She apparently heals fast, just gotta get the bullet out. Patch Mary in."

After changing into something less conspicuous that she borrowed from Helena, they got into a car driven by Alfred. They then went to Kate's Mary Hamilton's clinic. Mary was waiting for them outside. Kate and Mary carried Helena inside. "New friend?" Kate sat Helena down. "New bar manager. Also, she's the one the Saint put a bounty on." Kate refused to refer to him as Saint Batman, he was a mockery of everything Bruce stood for. Mary began examining the wound. "New friend. Going to have to perform surgery. May need your help holding up the incision area due to her healing factor." After a couple of hours of surgery. The bullet was safely extracted. "Her healing factor will determine when she wakes up. Good thing she passed out from the pain." Mary showed Kate the bullet. "This was designed for maximum damage. They were not trying to take her in alive. They wanted her dead."
