A bright & green future?
After hearing the news about the clones, Barbara wondered whether Pamela and Harley should be told. For the moment, she decided it was better not to.
Orime was starting to feel better. She was at least somewhat ambulatory. When she was feeling better Barbara asked her who attacked her. "It's all a blur. The last thing I remember clearly is the militia goons grabbing me." Barbara then asked her about Chichioya. "I don't remember saying that. Wanted to ask about the two new guests." Barbara told her about them bringing Orime back and how she asked for them to stay. "Plant, I can see asking to stay. She's useful. Clown, not so much. Unless you count as cannon fodder."
Orime grabbed some coffee. "What's the grocery situation like in the city? With supplies cut off, it's only a matter of time before food starts running out." Barbara pulled up a news feed. The militia has confiscated all food and is rationing it out. They promise to have deliveries made. So they keep everyone weak with hunger, and they can't fight back. Now I see why I asked to keep Plant around." Orime left, leaving Barbara confused and concerned.
Orime went looking for Poison Ivy. "Dr. Isley, I would like to talk about your future." Poison Ivy looked up from the book she was reading. She raised an eyebrow. Orime sat across from Poison Ivy. "As you are probably aware, the militia that has taken over Gotham has confiscated all food and is rationing it out." Poison Ivy nodded. "With them controlling the food, they control any resistance against them. I would like for you to put your powers to use growing as much food around the city as possible. How fast can you do that?" Poison Ivy thought about it. "Even if I took every inch of green space and converted it to crops, there would not be enough for everyone." Orime gave Poison Ivy a look that said think outside the box. "There might be a way, but some buildings will be toppled in the process. They are old abandoned buildings." Orime stood up. "You mean the buildings, supervillains and gangs like to use? Do it. Just make sure they are empty before you topple them. I'll have some associates of mine provide protection."
Orime called the local Yakuza and spoke in Japanese. "They will be at the front gate in twenty minutes. Take Miss Quinn with you as well. If things go well, you just might have a bright future. Be careful out there."
As Orime was leaving, she saw an article on Saint Batman. Her head began to hurt. She mumbled something very angrily and then stabbed the paper.
