Familial revelations

For the next several days, Orime and Poison Ivy worked on their plan while Orime recuperated. She still suffered involuntary spasms from the torture.

Kate trained Helena on how to properly use the various bat gadgets while Helena taught Kate all about the powers she had. At night, they patrolled. The Saint and Arkham Knight were never seen except during the first air drop of food. One of the gangs tried to steal it. They were wiped out. Those who didn't die during the attack were publicly executed.

Barbara, at one point, took a blonde sample so they would know if Helena was a match for blood donations if needed. She also decided to test her DNA to find any living relatives. The results were more than a little shocking. Barbara ran it five more times to make sure it was right. She then called Kate. "Kate, I have..... Remember how Bruce got Selina pregnant?" Kate confirmed she remembered. "Remember how there was a report of a scandal at the hospital where Selena gave birth about ten years ago, where parents found out their babies were switched at birth." Kate again confirmed she remembered. "Turns out Bruce and Selena's baby was also switched." Kate nearly fell off the roof she was about the jump off of. "Where is she then?" Barbara took a moment to clear her throat. "It's Helena." Kate nearly choked on her own saliva. "You mean she is Brenna?" Oracle confirmed it. "Ran the test six times. Been trying to contact Selina, but she's been off the grid ever since Bruce's funeral. I've alerted her favorite charities to contact us if they hear from her."

Kate looked over to Helena/Brenna. "Batgirl, we have something personal we need to talk about. First, we need to change, and then I need to take you somewhere."

They returned to the Batcave and changed into their civilian attire. Then they went to the gravesite of Bruce & Brenna Wayne. "Ten years ago, there was a scandal at the hospital where you were born. A nurse there switched babies around. There were six confirmed switches." Kate showed her the newspaper where it was reported. "Barbara discovered two more switched babies. Remember that blood sample you gave Barbara. After typing your blood type. She ran it to see what relatives of yours might still be alive. The test results were more than a little shocking. You were switched at birth. Your father is Bruce Wayne. The child everyone thought was Bruce Wayne's died of leukemia as a child. It devastated your mother and father; neither one of them was the same after. Bruce and your mother never spoke after they lost Brenna. Barbara is trying to contact your birth mother, but she went off the grid and became a recluse after the death of Bruce. If you have any questions, just ask." Helena looked at the tombstone of Bruce. "I want to see the test results."

While Barbara and Helena talked, she contacted Oliver and Agent Orange and gave them the news about Helena.

Kate led Helena to Barbara, who showed her the six test results. Barbara then showed her how to run the test herself, which resulted in the same answer. Helena just stared at the screen. Barbara and Kate left her alone to process. They then went to inform Orime. "Did anyone ever test Bruce's DNA for being a carrier for the Metahuman gene? He has two known biological kids, both of whom are metahumans."

That gave Barbara an idea. "I don't think anyone ever thought to look into that. It could be dangerous. That could lead to selective breeding programs to weed out the metahuman genes or to make more metahuman babies. I have Bruce's DNA on file. I can look into it."

Suddenly, Helena screamed & kicked her bolted-down seat so hard it was sent flying across the cave into the Batmobile, denting it, and then down into the underground river below. "There's the Wayne rage." Kate pointed out. Barbara's phone beeped. "Looks like Selina reached out. She has no interest in getting to know Helena. I guarantee you, Helena saw that message right before she raged out." Kate felt bad for Helena. Helena began stomp-pacing, leaving footprints in the metallic floor. Kate went over to Helena and hugged her. "Selina never got over losing Brenna; she is stuck in her grief. She's not rejecting you. She's keeping you at a distance so she doesn't get hurt again. Give her time."
