Simming: The Game Show

Come on down!

You heard that right! And no, I’m not talking about a sim with a game show as the setting, but rather a sim that’s also game show–were you can be both contestant and simmer at the same time! As far as we can tell, this has never been done before so we’ll be breaking new ground. We often do that here at Ongoing Worlds!

How will it work?

We’re still figuring that out. However, the game will be designed primarily around the contestants who volunteer. At the most basic level, the sim/game will be hosted on the Ongoing Worlds platform, and I’ll write weekly blog posts here to serve as the episodes. We’ll likely start with 10-12 contestants and have the game run 8-10 weeks. It will function more or less like a typical sim except there will be one or more tasks to complete each week for the game show aspect. We except a fall airtime.

Awesome! How do I sign up?

In full transparency, this will be a huge commitment. Contestants will be expected to be active and fully participate… until they get eliminated, that is. Contestants will also be required to promote the game back with their home sims and groups. And finally, contestants must absolutely have a good attitude: Everybody can’t win. In fact, only one person will be the final winner. Life isn’t fair.

If you have the time, are willing to promote the game, and won’t complain when you lose, please send an application to me at star [dot] idf [at] gmail [dot] com with the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • All sims and clubs you’re a member of
  • The main sim or club you will represent (think hometown)
  • URL of your home sim/club
  • Favorite simming genre
  • Second favorite simming genre
  • Most hated simming genre
  • Favorite game show
  • Your biggest strength in simming
  • Your biggest weakness in simming
  • What’s your shtik? What do you bring to the table/game?

I’ll inform every applicant of their selection or non-selection. I also may ask for additional information from applicants before making a final decision. And finally, applicants not selected for this season may be considered for a future season should we ever be crazy enough to do this again.

I can’t be a contestant. Can I help in some other way?

Yes! In addition to the contestants in the game, we’ll need to partner with guest “celebrities” and organizations to help run the weekly challenges and tasks. This will be a big time and effort commitment too, but it will be limited to about a week. Guests will also be expected to promote the game when they are participating. If you would like to participate in this way, please send me an application at star [dot] idf [at] gmail [dot] com with the following information:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • All sims and clubs you’re a member of
  • The main sim or club you will represent (think “sponsored by”)
  • URL of your home sim/club
  • Favorite simming genre
  • Second favorite simming genre
  • Most hated simming genre
  • Favorite game show
  • A pitch for the theme/topic/challenge for your guest appearance (should be related in some way to you, your history, or your organization)

If you would like to apply to be both a contestant and a guest, that’s fine too!
