OOC - So Steampunk?

Here are some Ideas I have been throwing around in my head and on paper. Throw your own in as well and see what floats your boat. I tend towards fantasy/steam punk for the most part but the genre his huge and I am coming to this with an open mind.

Elesium – Experimental

Using the premise of a Skyland type world. Instead of having a character, players could have an entire crew to run a merchant, pirate or drake rider war party. The game would be based around midair encounters between the airships etc. Either trade or battle. Characters could die and be replaced or even swapped between players as they change ships or factions.

Victorian London Alternative Earth - Straight Steampunk/ish

You are an inventor. You can invent what you like but the bigger the idea the more difficult the task. Other players are out to steal your invention. You state what your player is inventing and the GM decides what needs to be done to get there. On completing your invention you can keep it and use it in your game or present it to her majesty in exchange for a royal reward. You may even trade inventions with other players. There will be travel, there will be adventure, their will be tears.

Shard – Light Hearted

Imagine Shard, a clockwork world contained within a glass orb, floating around a distant star. It is a flat world, a perfect disk shaped continent floating on a sea of mercury that half fills the orb. The surface of the continent is earth like in many ways with mountains hills and forests. The world was made by seven great inventors and the populous revere them as founding fathers and mothers of the nations. Unfortunately in an attempt to achieve immortality all drank of an alchemical potion that drove them insane and they all now live locked away in a purpose built asylum at the heart of Fulcrum, a sprawling city at the centre of Shard. Steam and mechanical based tech is in common use across the nations and the hidden art of alchemy can also be learnt by those who know where to look.

Besides humans there are Golems, a mixture of mechanical genius and alchemical wizardry. They were designed to serve humanity but after the demise of the creators they became independent and now have their own nation. There is also the slyph, a diminutive race that live underground and ‘work the world’ it is thought they were made or maybe found by the creators, and as a people they are deeply religious. Sometimes the odd Slyph will come topside to find the gods, or escape them...

Maelstrom - Epic

The Maelstrom is a swirling blanket of deadly cloud that covers the world. Dusk the last bastion of humanity is a vast city of steam and smog. Around it lies the dead lands, a world decimated by greed and war. Beneath lies the Delve, a gargantuan underworld of mines and vast caverns where an inhuman race mine flagesium for their masters in the city.

Flagesium is the power source for steam tech on this world and it is the life blood of Elesium a vast floating city that sits above the Maelstrom. Air ships travel through the Nexus carrying their precious cargo to the City of Light. The Skylands however are not without their dangers, pirates, drake riders and beasts beneath the clouds make life more than interesting.
