Brief History

The Iron Crown of the Elves also known as " The Cursed Crown" is a relic of the ancient Elven Kingdoms. A 'War Crown' by all appearances made of cold forged black iron and given shape to by ancient and powerful magics.

While little is known about its creation the Iron Crown itself nor the power it is said to hold. It is a known relic of the ancient kingdoms and stories and legends often enough tell about how it only appears in times of great need to be worn by the ancient Elven Kings and Prince's into battles against the Elven Kingdoms ancient foe's.

These legends also make clear that the one who wears the Iron Crown is doomed to die. Either killed by the enemy during that last desperate battle or by the magics of the Iron Crown itself.

Talents/Abilities/Advantages

The Iron Crown is a powerful relic of the Ancient Elven Kingdoms and is said to contain not only the knowledge and wisdom of the ancient Elven Kings but also access to every spell, enchantment, and curse ever penned to page or parchment by the Elven Wizards and Sages.

In addition to the knowledge of old. The Iron Crown has access to an impossibly vast store of raw magical energy and can, when and if called upon by its wearer lay waste to entire kingdoms or reduce mountain ranges to rubble. Stories of old have even go so far as to tell of how the Iron Crown was used to bring about the deaths of ancient and powerful eldric beings. Though the power that was used often enough proved more then the wearer could handle and brought about their deaths in rather grand and tragic fashion.

The Iron Crown is known to allow the wearer to know the thoughts and feelings of every elven mind open to the wearer within a given room. As well as to allow communication with a specific mind known to the wearer from great distances away.

While elves are know to be immune or at least resistant to enchantments and mind altering magics. Elves have no such immunity to the power of the Iron Crown which projects an aura of Divine authority. The wearer is not viewed as a god by any stretch but is seen as a a representive of the gods on earth whose authority is final and absolute. ( This power only works if the wearer is an Elf however and survives the crown being placed upon the wearers head.)

Fears/Weaknesses/Phobias

The Crown is itself a creation of magic's both ancient and terrible and is only be used in the most dire of need. It is no secret to any elf or fey born that to agree to wear the Iron Crown is to be doomed to die. Killed by the enemies of the Elven peoples or ultimately consumed by the Crown itself.

Some other well known effects of the Crown are as follows.

1) The Curse of Iron - The Iron Crown is made of cold forged iron which is not only painful to the touch but is known to burn away the skin of any elves who handle it. In addition the Iron Crown also draining away the magics of the wearer allowing the wearer to only employ the magics stored within the crown itself.

2) Aura of Fear and Hatred - When worn into battle the Iron Crown projects an powerful aura that repel's lesser enemy's but also drawing the most powerful of foe's on the field to it.

3) Energy Draining - While minor spells can be drawn upon with ease and little to no cost the more powerful magics that can be called upon come at a higher price. The Crown either drawing upon the life energies of the wearer themselves or forcefully drawing from the wearers follower and retainers.

The life energies defeated foe's can be used as well but this requires those foe's to be sacrificed before hand and those energies stored within the Crown until called upon. The problem being that the Crown places a lower value on the lives of the enemy then it does on the lives of the wearer and their followers.

4) The Lover's Curse - Perhaps the least well known and rarely spoken of or understood aspect of the Iron Crown is its powerful desire to feel and indulge in the experience earthly pleasures.

In the early years after its creation fine food and drink were often used to entertain and curry its favor but as time passed and years became centuries its desire for earthly pleasures grew. For a time the execution of prisoners were amusement enough for it before it discovered the entertainment to be hand in duels to the death and contests of arms.

In more recent times the Iron Crown developed a taste for earthy love and sex congress. It is in these more recent tales that it tells tales of the bearers beautiful mistresses and harems of passionate and willing partners.

With its current bearer "The Iron Queen" the Crown has selected the very first female in a long line of bearers and in her care it has discovered a whole new realm of earthly pleasures. Thus rather than simply indulging in those earthly pleasures via a chossen proxy. The Crown has discovered a host with whom it can indulge its more earth desires want directly.
