Against His Better Judgement

As he got closer to the heart of the city, Gonyaul started to realize that the rooftops he was moving across were looking more and more occupied with decor. Occasionally he would even see a person or two inhabiting them. He always steered clear of the latter; however, it was obvious proceeding in this way wasn’t going to work. He suddenly realized why it was so easy earlier was because those places were abandoned or people hadn’t returned home for the night yet.

After one instance where he was almost discovered by a family coming to check on the noise on their roof, Gonyaul made the decision that he had to either go back or get down. It was going against his better judgement, but if he wanted to find Voah it was necessary. He did wonder why he always ended up in peril because of the choices of others as he carefully scaled down the side of a structure, undetected, into an alleyway.

Completely fully covered and still with his glorified walking staff, Gonyaul made his way into the streets. No one seemed to pay him any mind. They were either tired and had a one track mind to get home to bed, or they were too busy talking to each other about the night’s events. It made moving about a lot simpler than Gonyaul thought it was going to be.

And so he continued searching. Taking the main streets and pausing at each intersection or alley to do a quick look. He continued in this way working his way back to the heart of the city. He didn’t want to go on the other side of the center of town, so he hoped it didn’t have to come to that.
