Wartorn

The Clone Wars had come to Verkuyl. An outpost on the planet had been bombarded, Separatist weaponry had pulled buildings from their foundations and blown out glass windows. It was nightfall, an Ithorian Jedi hid in the darkness as troops of battle droids scouted the area. He had been sent here to seek out survivors. But so far he hadn't had much luck, it seemed like everyone was either dead or had somehow managed to escape. He leapt from a supply crate to the roof of a building, his eyes focused on both sides of the adjacent roads. It looked as if the size of the attacking armies was starting to decrease, a welcome sight. If any survivors were to make themselves known now would be the time.

The Ithorian continued to look over when he felt a sensation at his back, he quickly turned around. Standing before him was a young lady, likely in her early twenties. Her face was stained in ash, and her clothes were caked in thick dirt. "Are you with them?" she asked nervously.

The Ithorian activated his electronic translator, and he started to speak in a deep commanding voice: "I'm here to help, I represent the Republic. I'm not an enemy."

"Are you a Jedi?"

"I am."

"I'm afraid, I only wandered out when I saw the droid armies starting to get smaller. The bombs killed all my family, I'm the only one left," the emotion in her voice became palpable. Tears started to form in her eyes. The Ithorian could feel her pain. "We need to get out of here - before somebody sees us!"

"Are there any more survivors? We need to get as many people to safety before it's too late."

"I haven't seen anyone else," she said shaking her head. "We can check the outpost core? That's where most people gather."

The Ithorian nodded. "Very well, we'll take a look there. I am Master Corobb - in all the madness I forgot to introduce myself."

"I'm Rann."

"Good to meet you, Rann, now let's get to that outpost core." Corobb lead Rann from the roof, back into the dark wartorn Verkuyl streets. The sounds of further bombardment could be heard in the distance. The attack on this world had only just begun, the Clone Wars weren't going to be over anytime soon.
