Night Eyes

Oruvand let out a rather primal growl as his prey began to gain speed. No wonder he had managed to blow through all of those slackers. He was a mage, and one hell of one at that. Personally, Oru didn't mess with magic, too much abracadabra. His crossbow and his sword, that was his magic. And it was all he needed to end a life.

In this particular case, however, Oru wouldn't be ending anything anytime soon. The sucker was moving insanely fast, so that Oru's eyesight was the only edge he had left. Besides that, his only hope was to keep up as best he could, and make sure he didn't fall on his face. He was lucky that he had a habit of preparing for particularly long chases whenever he wasn't involved in one. He had an entire bagful of stamina vials, specifically for a situation in which his target could move faster than him. He only hoped the other guy would run out of magic juice or whatever before he ran out of vials.

LeLu: I think we are loosing him Jack. Mmmmph.

Jack: Sorry LeLu for the bumpy ride but I can't risk that jerk trying to shoot you with that crossbow. He has some deadly aim and I barely dodged it last time. I have no idea how he can keep up with me. He must be using magic or potions. Normal humanoids should be out of breath by now.

LeLu: Can you out run him?

Jack: Yeah but even I need to rest eventually. I don't want him to be able to track us while we rest which is why I am wind walking now to avoid tracks.

LeLu: Can you go faster?

Jack: Yeah but it will be to much for you if I do. I don't want you to loose your breakfast on my back.

LeLu: Thank you for that. So then what?

Jack: I need to blind him somehow.

Just then Jack saw some quicksand up ahead and smiled wickedly as hr raced towards it.

Jack: Hold on tight this will be a little rough LeLu.

LeLu: Eeeekkkk.

As soon as Jack reached the quicksand he increased the wind under his feet to small cyclones as he spun in a circle very fast to created a sand storm that covered a good 100 feet then he altered the wind spell to air walk and headed off West instead of North West this time leaving no tracks along the way. He used a bit more magic to boost his speed for three minutes before reducing it for LeLu's sake.

Jack: Sorry LeLu. How are you holding up?

Poor LeLu was out cold as she had passed out on his shoulder and dangled like a doll.

Jack: Sorry girl. Since you are already out I'll kick it up again.

Jack then double his speed to give the bandit the slip. He continued to move on long zig zag patterns to confuse the bandit and allow their escape. He felt bad for poor LeLu who was feeling bad and still weak from her being a slave. it would be a while before she could get back to 100% so he would have to care for her till then. Sadly it pissed him off that Slavers and Bandits were allowed to take on anyone without the law intervening. He was seriously thing about living in the wilderness and avoiding the people of both kingdoms since they had messed up values. He wondered how his mother put up with all that stuff but then he remembered how crazy strong she was and figured she just drained their essence after kicking their butts. Since he had no idea where he was going in the dark he used a body enhancing magic on his eyes to see in the dark. Now he was seeing the forest like a nocturnal creature and hoping the bandit/slaver chasing him would loose him for sure. Now the only issue would be the wild life.
