He knew that Daniel had missed a lot of school since his mum had thrown him out. His school records showed he had been a good student, above average and had liked school. The boy had confided on their trip back here that a guy called Shap had been the local librarian and always set aside any school textbooks that came his way for Danny. On ‘Read and Return’ basis of course. It was clear that Danny had no idea how much school he had missed but he had done his damnedest not to fall behind.
“We will have to do an educational assessment on both of you. We will also do a health check for you. It’s called living rough for a reason. So what do you wish to do first? Campus tour, or get settled in?”
