Temper, temper

Alexis closed her eyes and took some steadying breaths in an effort to soothe her flaring temper.

She really. Really. Wanted to strangle the man right about now. She crossed her arms in front of her to keep herself from following through on that.

Feeling she had herself under control again -somewhat-, she opened her eyes again and levelled her gaze back on Tar.

“You know…”

She spoke through gritted teeth.

“If things were different, all those shenanigans might not have been necessary to get me to help you. No bartering, no blackmailing needed. I might have helped just because your story is compelling and because I can tell this mission is tearing at your mind and soul.”

Even in the very short time between their meetings at Maru, she had felt that the man’s mental state had deteriorated significantly, and it had not seemed to be at its best to begin with.

“However, as you so kindly reminded me when we were at the rectory…”

she continued in a scathing tone.

“… there is still a friend of mine out there, according to you in ‘chains of servitude’ and ‘stalked by a relentless foe’. Do you seriously expect me to go on that… that pilgrimage with you instead of looking for her?”

Yes, she could tell he wasn’t trying to be a dick for once, he sincerely believed what he had said to her. But for her there were no visions to push her into that direction, no voices to urge her along. There was only her and what she wanted to do, and right now, fate be damned, that was not questing for a freaking mystical hammer shaft.
