That Which Arrives

As Islana felt another shift and she sunk further down, the quicksand reaching higher on her, it was happening whether she moved or not, just taking longer.

No animal came to her, at first. Kaithak remained in the air circling her, letting out a wail on occasion. Islana figured the falcon might be keeping the vultures at bay.

The redhead was tired, frustrated but mostly scared, with a terror that grips when one is sure they are going to die in an unfavorable death. She had been through so much and now was going to die out here, her burnt body forever lost to the desert.

Tears began to form, or would have but she was quite dehydrated. Time was moving so slowly. The sun had become the enemy.

Then just as hope was slipping through her fingers, a shadow appeared. Islana wondered if she was hallucinating again, even more so when her green eyes landed upon who the shadow belonged to.

A rather large 4 legged, furred creature with yellow eyes and ears that met at a point. It was certainly big enough to pull her out but was that why it had arrived, to help the young woman or did it think it had an easy meal?

Sk'elep. The unknown word, naming the unknown creature flashed across her mind. Where did that come from?

Islana didn't linger on the question for long as there were much more important issues to deal with at the moment.

The witch was going to assume the Sk'elep was here to help. The question was now, how could it?

Islana was too far to reach its paw, its tail was large but not likely long enough. What she needed was a strong branch, a vine, perhaps even a long enough (and strong) bone would work.

She flashed images of things that might help to the animal and Go, get, hoping it would work.
