A Last Try

Dragging one foot in front of the other, Islana had no idea how much longer she had, but it couldn't be long. No water - it was a much bigger concern, at the moment, than no food.

She had sent a message to Kaithak to also look for water but either the falcon was too busy with the vultures, or didn't see any. At this point it was too much to believe the bird could understand many of her commands but didn't understand "find water".

The vultures always did have a sense about when death was close, and death certainly seemed be following Islana around.

It was getting late, the sun would go down, and there would be another freezing night. There wasn't much else to do with the precarious position the redhead found herself in. Had this all just been a path leading her to her death?

Sitting down, Islana called Kaithak to her. Watching the graceful landing of the falcon on her arm. She wanted to just fall apart, but it was luxury, and not one the young woman could afford right now

Her mind was having a harder time concentrating than usual and she found it wandering for a brief moment, before looking up to see a lizard staring at her.

"Hello," The young witch said, "I don't have anything to give you."

Then a thought occurred, maybe the lizard could lead her to water. It was really no more than a slight hope, in the midst of what seemed hopeless but any chance was better than doing nothing.

The thought was sent to the lizard to find water, with words, pictures, really anyway Islana could think of. It was to only see if it worked, if it didn't, at least she would die after exhausting all efforts, it was better than giving up.
