Great Desert of Skulls

Voah and Gonyaul approach the lights slowly and carefully not knowing who or what to expect.

For those travelling the ever shifting sands, it would be easy to assume that there were no paths in the desert to follow. That no one would wander the landscape looking for easy prey, for strays or caravans laden with spices and goods to plunder. That the only danger out here would be from the elements and the lack of water.

There were paths here, their were trails, that those that knew the land followed and trekked across. But it was easy for any outsiders to assume otherwise.

Cresting a small dune and keeping away from the glare of the fires Voah and Gonyaul jaws dropped opened.
Up ahead stretching around ninety feet across the sands, illuminated dimly by nearby fires, were what looked like to be the ancient bones of the largest animal either had ever see.

A massively thick back bone stood in the air, almost the size of three men, lifted in place by curved ribs, stretching into the night sands, finishing in a massive strange head with bleached white bone, that looked like a small wall, mounted above a long mandible, full of sharp teeth.

You notice a few small metal braziers filled with hot coals hanging at different intervals along the skeleton.

Around the fires you see the shadows of robed people, eating and talking.
