Brotherhood of the Ebony Hand

The Brotherhood has existed among the Ozainae since before the coming of the Immortal Seer and the rise of The Wandering among the Septs of the Desert of Skulls. They are believed to have always followed the primordial forces known as the Twins, Yther and Viher, but they never truly believed that the Prophetess was the promised Chosen. They resented the fact that the first Seer Locust was an outsider, an Odonine, believing that she would dilute the teachings and culture of the Ozainae and bring corruption to the people.

They especially resented the power and influence the sorcerer-priest of the Twin gods came to yield. As Gra'akast rose in power and prestige among the desert people under the influence of the line of the first five Seer Locust, the Brotherhood became more and more despondent and attempted a coup that resulted in the death of the sixth Seer.

The seventh declared them heretics and her Water-Bearers and Air-Weavers led a persecution of the Brotherhood across three generations.

By the time the 15th Seer came to command the faith, the Brotherhood had been reduced to a cult of assassins for hire, which she made use of to persecute the blasphemous Neph-Kin and finally drive them from the Desert of Skulls into the dark subterranean passage of Fang's Ypogeios.

Their members fought in swirling displays of grace and athleticism, weaving their blades in long arching attacks and fierce, unexpected strikes. Master of infiltration, poisons and sabotage.

The Brotherhood survived through the ages, in the shadows, at the margins of Ozainae society. Waiting for the coming of the Twins real chosen one. The one that would end the vile Seer's perpetual reign.

The cult dwindled in numbers for centuries until very recently, where they have seen a resurgence among the Ozainae. They refused to die and now are setting plans in motion to finally seize control of Gra'akast from the faithful.

They command their members to never speak their own names, or those of other members...
