Stranger?

Once Islana left the body of the young girl, she continued on for several more hours. The sky began to grow dark and she needed rest. Maybe, it would be another no night of raw meat. At least the young woman now had some water and a few dates left as she had been trying to be extra careful with both.

With not much time think about, thoughts turned to the images that had come regarding the people she knew. Had they been real? Islana would like to think yes, but if that was true what had happened? Why were Alexis and Gonyaul separated? Why were they in or near the desert? Why hadn't she been shown Boyce, Wim or Hunter? Was it just that the distance was too far for the others or something else?

So, many questions. Islana had gotten, somewhat, used to questions with no answers. This was more of the same but it did serve to get her mind off other things, like the ever growing hunger, until they could no longer be ignored.

The light of a fire caught the redhead's attention. The idea of seeing another person, one who was alive was almost as enticing as the smell of the meat which lay roasting over the fire.

Yet, Islana stopped herself from just rushing into this unknown. First, after her encounters with Stran and Alcuin, the witch was more than a little weary of strangers. Second, after almost dying due to a mirage, how could it be trusted this was real?

Still, the pangs of hunger were almost more than she could bear. The redhead watched for a few moments to determine whether to approach whoever this was.
