Quick Stop

Approaching the bodies carefully, it became all too apparent the two Ozanines were dead and there was nothing Islana could do for them.

The other thing that seemed clear was they had been killed, the fire seemed deliberately set. Who would have done this and why? It made little sense. Even if bandits or whoever killed the two people, why destroy an entire oasis? Maybe, trying to cover up the crime but there was almost no one out here.

Islana knew there was no time to investigate further. A quick glance gave an idea of what had been left behind. Moving quickly the young woman grabbed the dried meat, dates, the two arrows and the bow. She would figure out if the meats and dates seemed safe to eat later.

Then it was to the watering hole. Clearly there was little time before the fire reached the trees surrounding it or predators showed up so Islana knew she had to move fast.

No bodies and it didn't seem like the ash had reached the water, yet. A sigh of relief came. She filled up both water skins.

Her eyes caught sight of the flames getting closer, her ears could hear the crackling becoming louder. It was time to go.

The redhead left the oasis and moved a decent distance away from the blaze before she said a silent prayer, similar to the one said for the young girl, for the two Ozanines.

Looking up as Kaithak called out and flew overhead. Islana closed her eyes for just a moment, the pull took over ,once again, and the young witch and the falcon moved in the direction it led.
