Alone Time

Day 1 at Camp Night

After his talk with the holy woman, Hunter was avoided the rest of the night. It seems his heart to heart talk with the holy woman finally gave him the alone time he had been wanting, but sadly it came at the price of revealing his past. In the coming years he will need to be careful of any ships carrying anyone related to his past since his life was now in question. He ate his fill from the feast and slept in the wagon to guard it while avoiding anyone who wanted to talk to him. He was not sure if Voah chose to keep his background to herself or if she shared it with the others that night. Based on the reaction of the holy woman she was unaware that the higher ups raised assassins and used them despite the laws. This meant she still had not been completely corrupted. The feast and social gathering went well into the night as Hunter rested in the wagon till he could sleep a few hours. Of course he didn't sleep well since he had the same nightmare for the last two and a half years. He kept having the flashback of his beloved being killed next to him and the rivers of blood he spilled as he escaped. Before he knew it he was holding the ring on his necklace since it was the last thing he had to remember her by.

Day 2 at Camp Early Morning

Since he felt stressed out and needed to work out so he did some stretching followed by slow moving sit ups, hand stand push ups and ending with katas. Of course it looked odd to others since he was moving slowly on purpose, since they didn’t realize he was making his training harder on purpose. Then when he was finished he began working on tanning the rabbit skins he hunted days before. He wanted to look busy to avoid talking to others even though he was still guarding the wagon. Hunter was focused on his task as he ignored the odd looks he received from the natives. Of course he didn’t care how others saw him since he was not there to make friends. The last person he got close to was killed before him. As he used his knife to scrape off the excess tissue from the skins he began to hum an odd song he learned from his dead beloved.

song

Alas, my love, you do me wrong,
To cast me off discourteously.
For I have loved you well and long,
Delighting in your company.

Greensleeves was all my joy
Greensleeves was my delight,
Greensleeves was my heart of gold,
And who but my lady greensleeves.

Your vows you've broken, like my heart,
Oh, why did you so enrapture me?
Now I remain in a world apart
But my heart remains in captivity.

Hunter continued to mumble the lyrics to himself as he tanned his hides. Oddly enough he did have a nice voice despite his past. As Hunter worked he mumbled the song as he imagined it in his head. It was interesting to watch him work in such a humble manner, but he was a simple person at heart. He had no ambition to be more than what he was, but he did take solace in the little things like crafting, cooking and cleaning. If one didn't know better he had the makings of a stay at home dad, but sadly he was damaged goods and the odds of any woman completely accepting him completely were small. Not to mention he did have a fear of getting close to another person since he didn't like the feeling of loosing them again. During his time as a killer he had seen and committed a lot of atrocities in the name of the Gods, Money and Power. So sad to say there was not much that could shock him at this point as he enjoyed his simple tasks.
