Yther's Warning

Eslsewhere

The Goddess visage seemed to spasm at the question and her face turned to the west, as if she had heard or seen something in the distance.

Islana sensed that maybe Yther was in several places at once, her attention divided between penitents and whatever ghastly business with the murderers. She turned back to face the young penitent.

"A veil of shadow has fallen down on the realm. Our vision is obscured and clouded by the blood of innocents." she started, her words carrying immense pain and concern. "The harvest of souls has been tainted." she said, and her figure started to sink down into the waters. The skies above started to darken, and a cold bitter wind picked up, sending ripples across the surfaces of her realm.

"You must hurry. Make haste to the Holy City. Guard yourself and your young companion. The sands of time are slipping away..." came the dire warning and so much was left unspoken.

Pilgrimage of Bones

Islana's eyes flew open, and she sat up in anguish. It was dark still, the waning moon, now no more than a sliver of light in the night sky, shone weakly on the desert below. Madaya woke at the same time as her older companion. The two looked at each other. The young child's bottom lip was trembling and her eyes watering, before she started to bawl throwing her arms around Islana. She sobbed and convulsed uncontrollably, holding on to her companion as if holding on to life itself.
