The Start of an Argument

JP with Omni and Lorem:

Gonyaul stood and politely bid Alcuin farewell. He felt a gladness return when the man left. There was something off putting about him that he couldn’t quite place. It very well could have been his dreadful news, his zeal for killing, and that he was tempting Voah to take up the cause of the inquisition again. Did he need to remind her that the inquisition cast her out, all the way from the top of the gods on down. Or perhaps, Gonyaul conceded, he was less patient then usual due to fatigue.

Gonyaul waited a while after Alcuin left, just in case he had exceptional hearing despite his advanced age. He wasn’t even sure where to begin when he turned to face her. This thing she had pursued was escalating rapidly and that was concerning.

“So you decide that you will kill this woman by you hand?” It was a rhetorical question, he just heard her vow it in front of others none the less. “You know her so well that you think you are right in this? Do not you see if we are to be as one that you become bone of my bone and flesh of my flesh. You hand is my hand.” He was trying to get her to see the reason that her actions don’t just effect her anymore, but also him … their future … their family … their legacy.

He used his hands when talking. At the last part he looked gravely at his left hand, then back to Voah. “This hand does not wish harm to this Fang woman.”

She wanted to argue, to let him see that broken side of her. But she said nothing, only fell silent. Of course she didn't really want him to be chained to this burden of vengeance, the prison she perpetually carried with her. She wanted to say:

*~I've decided to not stand idly by while a dangerous sorceress roams free, attacking, enslaving, and trying to kill a man who left his job and life behind, first to look for me, then to follow that woman through a desert... to avenge innocent people. I suppose we should just forgive and forget this woman for what she did with Islana and Hunter? Would you forgive and forget a witch so easily if they killed me? I would fight my way through Zin's Garden if they took you from me..."~*

What would he do? She wondered.

"I hear you..." was all she said, not looking at his eyes. Then she cradled herself against the hovel wall to rest, though her eyes didn't stay closed for at least a half a bell.

Gonyaul moved over to her unconvinced that she ‘heard him’ by her tone and lack of eye contact. It felt more like she was dismissing him or to be more fair, telling him what would placate him but still do what she wanted in the end. When she was interested he recalls she couldn’t stop looking into his eyes, and now she avoided them altogether.

He sat down next to her and put an arm around her. He rested his head gently to hers, very mindful not to bump or brush any of her new wounds. He was content for the moment to breathe in and out by her side. He closed his eyes and enjoyed being together after such a trying day and night. He too was soon asleep.
