It was a shame that she had to be the one to drop that bit of history onto Gonyaul, but she hoped it was for the best. She did hope that it would stir something in him.

Voah wasn’t running off to rejoin the Inquisition. She wasn’t lying when she said she wasn’t going anywhere, that is, she wasn’t leaving him behind. But she hoped that would go hand in hand and was afraid he might not follow where she wanted or needed to go. She knew that his decision could end the relationship right then and there.

When he agreed to stay, Voah was visibly relieved. With her hands on either side of his shoulders and her words catching in her throat, she nodded enthusiastically and blinked a tear at his request to keep them alive.

The idea of keeping him nearby was risky but could definitely be an advantage, especially if he got used to the idea of actively fighting and protecting each other.
