Contemplating Tomorrow

With Silina's parting words about the trial starting tomorrow, Islana just nodded, not questioning how the other young woman knew that.

The redhead turned to her young friend and spoke softly to the girl. "Be careful." Then wrestled with what to say next, "We'll see each other again." Was all Islana could come up with.

She couldn't bring herself to tell Madaya about the possibility they might have to fight each other. There was no point in worrying the girl over something that none of them had any control over.

The two witches hugged and said their goodbyes before returning to their rooms.

Sitting in her room; Islana's mind went to the trials. She wondered if they would all get the same ones and what they could possibly be.

When the young witch had met with The Council, it was clear they had scrutinized every word she had spoken. Had the other penitents been judged the same way? It wouldn't be surprising if they looked at the redhead more harshly due to her being an outsider.

It felt late; Islana grew more tired with every passing moment. Tomorrow would, likely, be difficult. No matter what the actual test was.

Winning would likely mean more tests. More ways for The Council to judge everything she did and said.

Eventually, a Prophetess would be chosen. One of them would take on all that came before, maybe losing themselves in the process.

Failing a single test could possibly end her life.
