The Pillars are Silent

JP with Voah and Gonyaul:

Voah waited until the were a few paces away before turning around and re-entering the shrine. She found Gonyaul had sat in front of the Pillars in prayer. She quietly stepped over behind the altar and sat between him and the incense burner.

Gonyaul was definitely not praying. He was observing the Pillars. Testing them to account for what they played a role in mass genocide. He wanted to seek understanding. But they didn’t show up. He was curious what would happen. It seemed his elders were correct, they were just man made constructs designed to seize power and justify their actions?

He turned and smiled at voah. Then added gesturing to the pillars. “They don’t talk. I thought they would.” His comment was very childlike, as if it was his first time in their presence like this. It was just an observation.

“Everything good?”he inquired about whatever happened outside the tent.

She laughed, thinking he was making a joke. "I know exactly what you mean. Our silent Gods."

Thinking he must be finished praying she grabbed his hand.

"Alexis and Tarmen want me to join them in investigating this problem with the miners. I have agreed to go. Can we continue this conversation another time? There is just so much I want... need to know about you."

Gonyaul took her hand and stood. He agreed to her request and was already looking forward to it. “And I you too.”

“May I walk with you to there?” He politely asked, not wanting to intrude where he had not been invited. But at least maybe he could escort her and get a little more time to be with her.

“I would be delighted. Just let me grab my things.” she said smiling back.
